Capstone Farm Country Park

Set on the North Downs, Capstone Farm Country Park feels quietly expansive. A wide sweep of former farmland softened back into woods, pasture, and water. At 114 hectares, it’s large enough to absorb a crowd without ever feeling crowded, a place where you can choose solitude simply by taking the next path instead of the obvious one.

Routes loop through open grassland and shaded woodland and skirt around a chain of lakes where swans gather around the main pond. The terrain constantly shifts: even level paths are suitable for pushchairs or gentle cycling. The muddier tracks, inclines and rougher slopes feel satisfyingly rural after rain. Capstone rewards repeat visits because you can a different circuit to walk and see it anew.

There’s a calm, restorative quality here. Birdsong filters through trees, branches crack softly underfoot, with the distinct sense of being just far enough from town to breathe in restorative air. Even on busier afternoons it holds a tranquil atmosphere, making it a dependable choice for unhurried Sunday walks after lunch.
